The Latest Stats on Women-owned Businesses
February 26, 2008In recognition of National Women’s History Month (March), the U.S. Census has just released some interesting statistics on women in the U.S.
Unfortunately, the latest numbers the Census has on women-owned businesses date back to 2002 when there were 6.5 million women-owned businesses generating more than $939 billion in revenue and employing more than 7.1 million people. Most women-owned businesses are small businesses, with only 7,231 having more than 100 employees. California had the highest percentage of women-owned firms – 13 percent followed by New York at 8 percent and Texas at 7 percent.
